Principles of Jainism
Celibacy – “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma” means non-violence. Mahavir has presented the idea of not committing violence under any circumstances. According to Mahavir, every human being should submit himself in society with full conscience without anger. Anger and violence prove to be a hindrance to salvation.
Truth – Every living being should always speak truth to him and to others. It is said that “lie has no legs, he has to walk with the help of truth” which has to end if not today. The question arises as to what is the truth – the truth is that which is based on facts. That is why the words of any human being will be considered as true only as long as the facts stated by him are present.
Asteya – Under the third basic principles of Mahavir ji, it has been emphasized that greed should never be felt towards other wealth and wealth. Things which belong to others should never be considered their own.
